Our goal is to help develop the total athlete by training for maximum muscular power, speed, agility, and jumping ability. By training these areas, our athletes gain the physical tools necessary to make the plays on the field, court, ice, mat, etc. Optimum performance is achieved through optimum training. We are big believers in ground-based, multi-joint movements for all athletes.
There are three aspects to our training program:
Strength: The Northern strength program uses a periodized program designed specifically for athletes. Multi-joint, ground-based movements are used to produce maximum gains muscular power and strength. This training is aims to meet athletes where they are in order for them to progress in both movement and strength.
Max Speed:
“Speed Drills" that help improve sprint mechanics, improve and train the CNS. These speed drills need to be done with max intent, max intensity, and 100% e"ort for 5-6 seconds each. Max Velocity (10yd Flys and 40yd Dash) are the main components of training and testing speed.
J.A.Qs (Jumping, Agility, Quickness)
These plyometric type workouts designed to develop explosiveness and improve speed. These are the important sports performance factors that, when trained, can help the athlete get into position to make the play, while being under control. Workouts are performed with maximum intent, non-sprint work with each effort lasting 6-10 seconds and
enough rest to repeat at the same level.
IRON DAWGS TESTING TAKES PLACE 3-4 TIMES EACH YEAR. STUDENTS CAN EARN GEAR BASED ON THEIR PERFORMANCE LEVEL. CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO SEE OUR CURRENT RANKINGS.
